Manicure Monday: Revlon Nail Enamel in White on White

Thought I'd start the week with a manicure monday post as I've been holding off on the Shellac gel manicures and experimenting with all the amazing summer nail colours out at the moment.

Usually, I would go for darker shades or a classic red or coral for the summer but I am loving the Revlon nail enamel in White on White. I have to say, white is the most awkward shade to paint as every mistake shows up so only have a go if you can keep your hand steady! I used the Rimmel 5 in 1 base and top coat and then applied two coats of white but still had to clean around the cuticles with a fine brush dipped in nail polish remover which did help to neaten them up.

They do say that practise makes perfect so maybe I'll persevere with this white shade. I'm thinking it would work really well for nail art designs but that's another challenge for another day!

What products have you tried for the perfect white manicure?

REVIEW: Shu Uemura Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil

If you are looking for a high-quality and effective cleansing oil to remove all daily impurities  the Shu Uemura Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil is the perfect investment. The reason I say investment is because the product is priced at £72 for a 45oml bottle, although you can buy the smaller 150ml bottle for £36 which is more reasonable.

I was lucky enough to receive this large bottle as a gift so I guess that's easy for me to say, but, I'm beginning to feel like I would save in order to splurge on this product once this bottle runs dry. Just 1-2 pumps of this oil will remove all face makeup so I would say this bottle would be really long-lasting.

Initially, I was worried about the oil making my normal to dry skin feel quite greasy but I have found the product to be an effective cleanser that leaves the skin feeling soft without a trace of the formula.

Usually I am more inclined to use a creamy cleanser but recently I have been reaching for this cleansing oil as a more luxurious way to take off my makeup before bed. As the formula  contains 8 botanical oils including shea butter, jojoba and olive oil, it literally melts away with just a sweep of the oil on a cotton pad. Once you wash your face afterwards you will find that the oil emulsifies leaving skin feeling clean and super fresh.

This oil also removes mascara, eyeshadow and eye liner without making my (very) sensitive eyes water and sting which is a huge selling point for me!Plus, removing eye makeup has to be the bane of everyone's life-right?

I find this product to be most effective when used 2-3 times a week, especially when my skin is in need of a super thorough cleanse at the end of the week. There's something about this oil that seems to make my nightly cleansing routine seem much more relaxing and I definitely think that it's a luxury product worth it's price tag.

Have you tried the Shu Uemura Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil or anything else from their range? Would you pay the £72 for a cleansing oil?

Let me know your thoughts!

REVIEW: Revlon Neon Nail Art Pen in Hot Flash

I'm a little bit in love with neon nails at the moment. There's nothing quite as cheery as a bold bright nail during the summer months and these Revlon neon nail art pens definitely deliver amazing colour and shine.

The dual-ended design makes them super versatile as the pens have a bright white shade that you apply as a base coat to make the colour pop and then a neon colour that you apply over the top.

I decided to go for Hot Flash which is a vibrant coral orange but my advice would be to only apply one coat of the white polish before adding two coats of the orange shade, as the white glow started to show through with just one coat of colour.

There's 6 different shades to choose from so be warned, when you've tried one you may want them all!

Each nail art pen is £7.99 each but they are currently on offer at Boots.com for £5.99 here!

Sorry today's post has been a short one!

What's your favourite neon nail polish?

My Suncare Essentials

From left:
Hawaiian Tropic Protective Sun Lotion SPF 15 Medium Protection
Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh Invisible Cooling Mist SPF 20 Medium Protection
Hawaiian Tropic Protective Dry Spray Oil SPF 8 Low Protection
Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh Invisible Cooling Mist SPF 30 High Protection
Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Moisturising Lotion

When my boyfriend asked me where I wanted to go on holiday this Summer the first thing I said to him was 'I don't care where we go as long as it's hot!' So, off we went in search of destinations with scorching temperatures without a care in the world for our pale, fair skin that we are both blessed with! (I say this in a very sarcastic manner as I think most people envy those who have perfect olive skin that tan's like a dream!)

In the end we decided to go to Majorca for a week and the weather was perfect, finally some guaranteed sunshine! Of course, we didn't want to head off sunbathing without protecting our milky white bodies, so these suncare picks proved to be very essential holiday buys.

As we were only going away for a week we limited ourselves to these 5 suncare products, which were more than substantial for the week- we even came back with some left over. I tried to ensure we had varying factors with us (whilst my boyfriend had packed two pairs of swimming shorts and forgotten almost everything else he needed) and I found the chosen factors to be just right.

So here's why I would choose to take these 5 suncare products on holiday over any others:

Hawaiian Tropic-SPF 15

When applying this product I found the main advantage to be that the creamy formula literally dissolves into the skin and dries instantly. I really hate it when sun cream leaves white streaky marks and takes forever to be rubbed into the skin, however, this formula seemed to glide on, it was quick to apply and most importantly, protected my skin for the whole day. Of course, I did top it up occasionally to be safe but I think I could have got away with the one application. I love the fruity smell of this product too.

Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh Invisible Cooling Mist-SPF 20 and 30

I'm going to cover both of the Nivea sprays here as apart from the difference in the sun factor they are essentially the same product. These sprays were an absolute suncare saviour whilst I was away and they are a great holiday buy if you are looking for ease of application. Initially, I was a little worried that the mist might not reach all areas of the skin, leaving some patches unprotected. However, the mist worked very effectively on even the most hard to reach areas and ensured that our skin was protected from top to toe.

Top tip: This product is also a great buy if you hate the feeling of sand sticking to your body as it dries super fast!

Hawaiian Tropic Dry Spray Oil- SPF 8

Most people usually tut and sigh when you say you use an oil on holiday, but I always think it's ok to use them as long as you don't use them throughout your holiday and from the moment you get there. Obviously, I can only use them in moderation or when my skin is already lightly tanned as I have fair skin that is likely to burn.

This oil was great for applying on particular areas that take forever to tan such as my legs and back- I don't know why these parts of my body take that bit longer? The spray bottle and smoothing formula also makes for a fuss-free application.

Hawaiian Tropic After sun Moisturising Lotion

One question: what would we do without after sun on holiday? I think applying a soothing aloe vera based lotion such as this Hawaiian Tropics one is the perfect way to end a long day at the beach and this one really works to put the lost moisture back into the skin. I also found this after sun to be good value for money as I still had some left despite both my boyfriend and I using it repeatedly throughout the week. Definitely a must-have!

What are your suncare essentials whilst on holiday?

OOTD: Neon Dungarees

What I'm wearing:
Neon Dungaree Playsuit- Coco Boo
Embellished collar shirt- River Island (past season)
Mini shopper bag- Zara
Sunglasses- H&M
Ambush Boots- Topshop (past season)

My first question is; has everyone had a fun Bank Holiday weekend? This weekend has been one of the few weekends that I have actually stayed in London, but I think it was definitely one of the best weekends to stay! I made the most of the beautiful weather and went to Brick Lane and Shoreditch with my lovely friend Sophie, who kindly stepped up to being my street style photographer for the day and helped take the pics for this outfit post (big thank you for that!) Hope you like the crazy coloured wall as a background because we loved it!

Due to the glorious weather I thought it was perfect timing to wear my gorgeous new neon printed playsuit which is from the fabulous Coco Boo. I first discovered the Boo in my home town which is Preston (Yes, I'm a northern girl) and I can always rely on the lovely girls in there to find me something fabulous and totally unique to wear.

This neon playsuit ticks two trends in one, both neon and the dungaree style, so that's what made me fall in love with it! It has straps that come over the shoulder and a pretty low back so I teamed it with a buttoned up shirt, tights and ankle boots. Although I am planning to team it with a crop top and heels this weekend; two outfits in one!

I hope you enjoyed my outfit post and if you get the chance to head to Shoreditch/Brick Lane I would definitely step to it! Lots of cool vintage stalls, unusual designer brands, nice bars and amazing street food! I would definitely recommend the pineapple smoothies as you can tell by my huge grin!

Take a look at the Coco Boo website here, follow them on Twitter or take a look at the Facebook for all their new arrivals!

Happy Shopping!
